Our Training Background

Back home in Australia our eventing, hunting and jumping horses have generally had a racing career of some sort. Off the track horses usually have a basic education, left, right and go fast. A sport horse needs a little more than that and that's where our background lies, reeducating Thoroughbreds for Fox Hunting, Jumping, Dressage and Eventing

How we train

We start on the ground, much like the popular Clinton Anderson, to achieve:

  • desensitizing your horse's personality
  • developing your horse's manners putting you back in charge
  • respect from your horse
  • flexion

In the round pen:

  • trot poles develop jump striding
  • jumping is started with the cavaletti
  • general fitness

Under saddle flat work begins

  • develop the 3 basic gaits
  • basic dressage moves
  • working "on the bit"
  • lead changes

Jumping

  • develop your horse's ability over a range of jumps
  • strides
  • lead changes
  • exposure to a range of stimuli: dazzle boards; walls; etc.
